Crypto.com introduces inaugural multi-million CRO golf award

Crypto.com, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has secured the sponsorship of the first-ever major golf tournament. According to the latest information shared with Finbold on Wednesday, November 27, the tournament will feature a multimillion-dollar purse paid in Cronos (CRO), the native cryptocurrency of Crypto.com.

The tournament, called the Crypto.com Showdown, will take place in Las Vegas on December 17, 2024, and will feature top golfers from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, including Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka.

Kris Marzalek, the CEO of Crypto.com, stated that this move is part of the exchange’s ongoing efforts to integrate cryptocurrency with sports. Marzalek believes that sports can play a crucial role in helping fans adopt crypto.

Bryan Zuriff from BZ Entertainment and Ian Orefice from EverWonder Studio, the creators of the Crypto.com Showdown, expressed their excitement about this groundbreaking moment for both crypto and sports. They believe that the tournament, with Crypto.com as the title sponsor and a multimillion-dollar prize purse in CRO cryptocurrency, will transform the game of golf and potentially serve as a blueprint for the future of professional sports.

Steven Kalifowitz, the Chief Marketing Officer at Crypto.com, emphasized the company’s focus on being the first in various areas. They have previously put their name on the iconic Crypto.com Arena, become a global sponsor for Formula 1, UFC, and the FIFA World Cup, and now they will host the first major golf tournament with the world’s top-ranked players from LIV and the PGA Tour, offering a purse in CRO cryptocurrency.

The Crypto.com Showdown is part of Crypto.com’s strategy to solidify its brand in the cryptocurrency market through sports and entertainment sponsorships. The exchange aims to partner with iconic individuals, venues, and events to further establish its presence.
