Donald Trump reportedly promises backing for Bitcoin miners at White House
Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has made cryptocurrencies a focal point of his upcoming presidential campaign. He has pledged to support Bitcoin (BTC) miners if he wins the presidency and has already met with key players in the crypto industry.
During a recent meeting with Bitcoin miners at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump expressed his admiration for the crypto sector. Matthew Shultz, the executive chairman of CleanSpark, a major crypto mining company, shared that Trump believes Bitcoin miners can help stabilize energy supply from the grid.
Additionally, Trump met with Jason Les, the CEO of Riot Platforms, a prominent blockchain company. Les later tweeted about a productive meeting with Trump regarding Bitcoin and U.S. energy dominance.
In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump emphasized the importance of Bitcoin mining as a defense against central bank digital currencies (CBDC). He called for all remaining Bitcoin to be produced in the USA to boost energy dominance.
Trump’s stance on crypto assets has evolved over the years, with him now being supportive of digital currencies and accepting campaign donations in crypto. This is in contrast to his previous views on crypto being used for illegal activities.
On the other hand, President Joe Biden’s administration has also shown a shift in attitude towards the crypto industry, with his team engaging with key players for insights on future policies. Trump and Biden’s differing views on crypto could become a significant issue in the upcoming presidential race.
