PolkaPort East Debuts in Hong Kong, Enhancing Decentralization of Polkadot Ecosystem
Web3 Foundation has recently granted PolkaPort East a new grant in order to advance decentralization and strengthen community engagement within the Polkadot ecosystem. This is the first grant of its kind awarded to an organization in Asia. PolkaPort East, an independent entity based in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, will use the grant to drive regional growth. The objective of this initiative is to promote the technology of Polkadot and encourage strategic investments and collaborations in the local ecosystem. The launch of PolkaPort East is seen as a crucial step towards increasing the decentralization of the Polkadot network and solidifying its strategic position in Hong Kong. With the support of the grant, PolkaPort East plans to tap into the innovative hubs of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, build relationships with local governments, global enterprises, and capital allocators, and enhance connectivity and empower the community. This initiative aims to attract participants from across Asia, including developers, venture capitalists, Web3 investors, university blockchain collectives, fintech companies, and local governments exploring blockchain technology. The Decentralized Futures initiative, launched by Web3 Foundation in 2023, supports independent teams that contribute to the success of Polkadot. The program provides funding to both profit-driven and non-profit organizations focused on Polkadot. A total of $20 million and 5 million DOT tokens have been allocated to expand the Polkadot ecosystem and ensure continuous innovation.
