Introducing the topperforming Congress stock trading bot of 2024
Numerous U.S. politicians have gained a reputation for being incredibly skilled traders, with their investments often yielding high profits and raising suspicion, especially in the wake of the 2020 congressional insider trading scandal. As a result, many people have started copying their trades, both manually and through the use of trading bots. It has become quite common to track the stock trades of Representatives and Senators to replicate their success.
However, in 2024, few have achieved the level of success as Representative Dan Meuser from Pennsylvania. Over the past six months, the strategy developed to track Meuser’s stock picks has consistently outperformed the broader market, with gains of up to 92.22%. In fact, it has proven to be more than twice as successful as the next best strategy developed by Quiver Quantitative, a platform known for highlighting suspicious congressional trades on the X platform. The strategy mimicking Senator Sheldon Whitehouse from Rhode Island has seen gains of 38.44%.
Taking a longer-term perspective, the Meuser strategy has also been highly successful, delivering a return of 108.98% over the past 12 months and 534.53% since backtesting began in 2019. It boasts an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 46.36% and a Sharpe ratio of 1.246.
A closer examination of Representative Meuser’s trades sheds light on why the strategy tracking him has been so profitable. For example, Meuser acquired a significant number of Nvidia shares at an undisclosed time, likely before 2019, and has been selling them in waves since then. While the first recorded round of sales in February 2022 may not have been particularly lucrative, subsequent sales are likely to have generated substantial profits.
The most recent sales, made on February 20, 2024, and reported on March 21, may have resulted in profits of up to $132 per share sold. The total transaction is estimated to be as high as $600,000 at the upper limit.
Even without considering Nvidia, Meuser’s preference for the information technology and communications sectors also explains the success of the tracking strategy. Other stocks that the Representative has been known to trade, such as Alphabet and Microsoft, have also performed exceptionally well in 2024.
